A quarter a person
09/20/2026 08:44h
Nearly one hundred thousand people gave to raise the veil. Not one great gift: small ones, the whole fund averaging a quarter a person. The bronze they paid for shows one man lifting a veil from a man seated on a plow and anvil, a book in his hands. But a lift that size was never one man. A hundred thousand palms opened, the veil came off in quarters. Every quarter was a hand. Every hand was the arm.
